2. What data we collect
There is no registration with us, no account on our servers and no password. We never collect your name, email address, phone number or any other detail that identifies you personally.
The app does record how the game is played – but only if you agree to it. See section 7.
Two features involve Google rather than us: advertising (section 6) and Play Games Services (section 4). Where Google acts on its own responsibility, that is said plainly in the relevant section.
3. Where your save game lives
Your save game, settings, achievements and any cosmetic items you unlocked are stored on your device. We do not operate a server for them and we never receive a copy.
If you are signed in to Google Play Games (see section 4), a copy is also stored in your own Google account so that you can carry on after switching phones. This copy is written when a generation ends and when you put the game away, and you can trigger it yourself under Settings → Cloud save.
That copy lives in your Google account, not ours. We have no access to it and cannot read, export or delete it. You can remove it yourself in the Google Play Games app under your saved games.
If you are not signed in to Play Games, nothing is uploaded at all. Uninstalling the app then deletes your progress permanently, and we cannot restore it.
4. Google Play Games Services
The app uses Google Play Games Services for leaderboards, achievements and the cloud save described above. If you have a Play Games profile, Google signs you in automatically when the game starts.
In that case Google processes your Play Games player ID, your public player name and the scores and achievements the game submits, under Google's own responsibility. See Google's privacy policy. We do not store your player ID or your player name; the app only sends scores and achievement unlocks and reads nothing back about you.
If you have no Play Games profile, or decline to create one, the game runs normally – leaderboards and achievements then exist only on your device, and there is no cloud save.
The app may also show Google's in-app review dialog once, after your first completed life. If you choose to leave a review, it is handled entirely by Google Play; we receive no data from it and cannot tell who reviewed.
5. The name you type in
The name you give your character stays on your device. It is used to display your character and for nothing else. It is never sent to us.
It is included in the cloud save copy described in section 3, because that copy is your save game – but that copy goes to your own Google account, not to us.
6. Advertising
The app shows video advertisements through Google AdMob. Most of them are optional: you watch one if you want gems or a second chance, and the game never blocks progress behind one.
There is one exception. After a character dies and you have chosen an heir, a full-screen advertisement may appear without being asked for. It never interrupts the review of the life you just played, it does not appear during your first two generations, it appears at most three times in a session, and never twice within three minutes.
When an ad is shown, Google processes an advertising identifier, approximate location derived from your IP address, device information and your interaction with the ad. This happens under Google's own responsibility; see Google's privacy policy.
Within the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland we ask for your consent before the first ad is shown, using Google's consent form. You can choose non-personalised ads there.
7. Analytics
Nothing is recorded unless you say yes. The app asks once, after the tutorial. Until you answer, nothing is collected and nothing is stored on your device for this purpose.
If you agree, the app records:
- how many lives you start and finish, and what age your characters reach
- which actions you choose and how you answer in-game events
- whether you watched an advertisement
- how long a session lasts
This shows us where the game is confusing or unbalanced.
No personal data is involved. We do not record your name, email address, advertising ID, device model or location, and your IP address is discarded rather than stored. Events are tied to a random identifier that is generated on your device, is not derived from anything about your phone or its settings, and changes if you reinstall the app.
Processing is carried out by PostHog on servers in the European Union, acting as our processor under a data processing agreement.
Crash reports. Your yes also switches on Firebase Crashlytics, which tells us when and where the app crashed: the error, the Android version and the device model. This is what lets a crash be fixed instead of guessed at. It contains nothing you typed and nothing about how you played.
Crashlytics is operated by Google. Until you answer, it is switched off and sends nothing – not even if the app crashes. Say no, or change your answer later, and it stops and discards whatever is still waiting on your device.
You can change your answer at any time under Settings → Analyse play behaviour. If you switch it off, nothing further is collected, anything still queued on your device is discarded, and the random identifier is deleted.
The bug report you send yourself. Under Menu → Report a bug the game puts together a plain-text report: the app version, your device model and language, where in the game you are (age, generation, job, business), any errors the app recorded on your device, and whatever you type in. The full text is shown to you on screen before anything happens with it.
Nothing here is sent by the game. Tapping Send by email hands the text to your own mail app, and it goes only when you press send there; Copy text puts it on your clipboard and nothing else. That is why this works even if you said no to analytics. Errors the app records are kept on your device – at most five, replaced by newer ones – and you can discard them on that same screen.
8. Permissions
The app declares these Android permissions:
INTERNET,ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE– to reach the network at all, for advertising, for the optional analytics described above and, if you are signed in, for Play Games ServicesAD_IDand theACCESS_ADSERVICES_*permissions – used for ad delivery, and required by Android's own advertising frameworkWAKE_LOCK,FOREGROUND_SERVICE– requested by Google's advertising library so that a video advertisement is not interrupted
None of these is a permission Android asks you about. They are all classed as normal, granted at install time, and none of them gives access to anything on your phone that belongs to you.
The app does not access your contacts, camera, microphone, photos, files or precise location.
9. Children
Bloodline is not directed at children. The game contains simulated gambling and references to alcohol and smoking, and is intended for players aged 18 and over.
10. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to information, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability and to object to processing.
Because analytics events are tied to a random identifier and to nothing else, we have no way of telling which events belong to which person – we therefore cannot look up, export or delete the data of an individual. Switching the setting off stops any further collection and removes the identifier from your device.
For data processed by Google in connection with advertising or Play Games Services – including your cloud save – please contact Google directly, or use the controls in your Google account. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change how the app handles data, this page is updated before the change takes effect, and the date at the top changes with it.
